Our Story

Our Story

With a scarcity of resources geared specifically to men's unique needs, Cancer Dudes was created to provide education and resources in order for men to successfully move past their cancer experience.

About Dan

Dan is a 16-year survivor of stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Recognizing that few resources exist geared specifically toward men affected by cancer, Dan founded Cancer Dudes to bring men of all ages together to lead amazing, impactful lives after a cancer diagnosis. Dan also plays basketball, hikes, runs, and performs improv comedy.

About Andy

Dr. Andy Dohanos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences at Baldwin Wallace University where he teaches courses in interpersonal communication, public speaking, and communication theory and research. Dr. Dohanos has researched the communication processes and patterns associated with emotion expression, coaching, and dismissal in the context of family therapy.

Away from the University, Dr. Dohanos enjoys spending time with his wife Abby and son William, running with his dog Riley, and coaching high school cross country.

About Corey

From a young age, Corey’s passion for nature and music have fueled a foundation of creativity. Combined with an engineering background, Corey enjoys expressing unique creativity through his work as a consultant. Using his Six-Sigma and Quality Management knowledge, Corey enjoys leading teams through process improvement exercises and helping organizations express core mission, values, and vision (MVV) morals. Outside of business consulting, Corey also works as an IT consultant.

About Anne

Anne Katz, PhD, RN, FAAN, a certified sexuality counselor at CancerCare Manitoba and nurse counselor at the Manitoba Prostate Centre, counsels patients with a history of cancer who are experiencing sexual and relationship challenges. She is the editor of the Oncology Nursing Forumresearch journal and an instructor at Athabasca University and the University of Manitoba College of Nursing. The author of 13 books, Dr. Katz offers insight for health care providers and consumers on the topics of illness and sexuality, as well as cancer survivorship.

About Tim

Timothy Pearman, PhD, ABPP is the Director of Supportive Oncology at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University and Professor in the Departments of Medical Social Sciences and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

From 2008-2010, Dr. Pearman served as Director of the Tulane Cancer Center and was Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Tulane University School of Medicine. From 2000-2008, Dr. Pearman was Director of Tulane’s Psychosocial Oncology Program. He is a member of the NIH's health disparities and equity promotion committee, and previously completed a term on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Education subcommittee G.
